SustainEnergyFinance does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, age, or sex in the administration of its programs or activities. This policy applies to all employees, contractors, program beneficiaries, applicants, and the general public. Furthermore, SustainEnergyFinance prohibits intimidation or retaliation against individuals or groups who exercise their rights under applicable federal non-discrimination laws, including those protected under 40 C.F.R. Parts 5 and 7.

This individual is responsible for coordinating efforts to comply with federal non-discrimination laws, including but not limited to:

  • Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

  • The Age Discrimination Act of 1975

  • Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

  • Section 13 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972

How to File a Complaint

Individuals who believe they have been subjected to discrimination under any program or activity administered by SustainEnergyFinance may file a complaint within 180 days of the alleged discriminatory act. Complaints should be submitted in writing and include:

  • A detailed description of the alleged discriminatory action

  • The specific program or activity where the discrimination occurred

  • The names of individuals involved, if known

  • Contact information of the complainant

Upon receipt, SustainEnergyFinance will acknowledge the complaint within 10 business days and initiate an investigation. A written response will be provided to the complainant within 120 days of receipt.

Appeal Process

If the complainant is dissatisfied with the resolution, they may appeal the decision to the Chief Executive Officer within 30 days of receiving the response. The appeal should be in writing and state the reasons for the appeal. A final decision will be issued within 30 days of receipt of the appeal.

SustainEnergyFinance provides free language assistance services to individuals with limited English proficiency and ensures effective communication with individuals with disabilities. Services include:

  • Information in alternative formats (e.g., large print, audio, accessible electronic formats)
